No matter how excellently polished your web site design is and no matter how well it has been search optimized, if you have a lousy web host that bogs down often or constricts the bandwidth of your increasing customer base, you have a serious problem.

But cheer up; it’s a problem that can easily be overcome. Just scout around for a better web host that you can have your site transferred to. In the US, search for Web Hosting or Web Hosting Reviews on Google. In Sweden where I live, I can recommend Webbhotell Recensioner se, check their “Cheap Hosting” alternatives Billiga Webbhotell. The only concern is to make sure it gets up and running in the new host in the shortest time.

Being down for any length of time is a webmaster’s worst nightmare. Check newly established web host providers offering great savings to penetrate the market. Take advantage of that and the fact they still have few customers to eat their bandwidth. Or you could hire the big names known to offer guarantees and have a reputation to protect. Just be prepared to pay a premium.

For so many years, hosting has been the main function of a web hosting site ensuring that the site gets published on the net with a minimum downtime and allowing enough traffic bandwidth to make like easy for online surfers visiting the sites it is hosting.

These days, consumer webhosting assumes other functions that put it in the league of industrial strength web hosting solutions. Starting with alternative redundancy for disaster recovery, all the way to ancillary website management functions like SEO and e-commerce support, web hosting has become an enterprise suite on it own.

With the current financial crisis and people losing their jobs or getting pay cuts and unpaid forced leaves, there are more opportunities for e-commerce for new business startups right from the home. Consultancy services and small cottage industries are best served with online marketing.

Web hosting services focused on the consumer markets should be equipping themselves with the right skill set to help laid-off workers become more entrepreneurial right form the home and on the internet. Who says nothing good will come out of economic crisis?

Consumers probably have no way of find this out. But with the volume of traffic eroding bandwidths they offer to the public, it is not uncommon for Internet Service Providers to control torrent traffic to and from their subscribers in an attempt to maintain the bandwidth allotted in shared burstible service plans that are quite common for household users.

Tech savvy torrent users have a way to cover up torrent traffic of ISP’s so they won’t get their hands on them. BitTorent and utorrent client programs have a configurable user setting that allows you to encrypt outgoing and incoming torrent traffic so ISPs won’t be able to distinguish one from other internet traffic. Torrent how-to FAQ sites abound online discussing how to increase torrent traffic and this is one way to do it. Check your torrent software if it has one.

The copyright law seems a bit vague when it comes to sharing copyrighted materials online where no exchange of money is involved. I mean, how can it be considered piracy when the person is willingly sharing the material free to online surfers. I’m referring to those free torrent sites that have video rips of Blu-ray and DVD contents. Mp3 files of copyrighted albums and songs that are supposed to enjoy protection against unauthorized copying.

But you’ve bought the disc of the movie or song. You should be able to do what you want with it and its contents. There are people who just love to share things, and that includes files and torrents sites that are only too happy to get them uploaded.

A simple visit to these sites reveals hundreds of thousands of movie titles and songs that anyone with a torrent client software can download. All for free. Nobody is making money out of it. Free Torrents seem like the best thing that ever happened on the internet. What do you think?

They’re just small jpg files that can really spice up your blog site. I’m not sure if there are online sites selling comic strips for this purpose, but if you know anyone like a graphics artists or cartoon artist, have them create a cartoon strip for you, scan it, or compose it in any image editing software, and post it as a conspicuous part of your website or blog site. Humor is always a welcome feature in anything.

Just make sure, it’s really funny and update it regularly especially if it’s a series. Your blog visitors will love you for it. Nothing beats a funny strip or even a joke that can make your visitors laugh when they visit your blog. Try it.

You’ve probably come across some books and online sites that essay tutorials and easy guides to make money online. Well, for the most part, there’s a lot of truth in them. You can make money online though your blogs. But don’t make your personal blog your jumping platform to it.
Pop up another blog site – one that will showcase your interest and expertise like airline or hotel consultancy, engineering, sports, entertainment, etc.

Anything that you think will interest many other people and drive traffic to your blog . Once you can show your blog has big enough traffic, have advertisers place ads on your blog by joining online ad programs. They love sites that have sufficient traffic to see their ads. That’s where the money will come from.

That can be self-contradictory as some of the most stunning websites are the most complex. They are also the most difficult to load on a typical shared broadband connection. At the other extreme, you can have the most boring website that loads real fast, with all the information you need right on the front page.

The challenge is really to strike a balance between the two. That’s what distinguishes a seasoned, sought after and highly paid web developer from the amateur type who may be technically or even artistically equipped to design Flash animated web pages that will never load fast enough.

One easy trick you as a web owner or webmaster can do is to visit as many websites from frequently visited sites as well as award-winnings sites. Do some reverse engineering by accessing their html or asp codes. Then copy the form and structure. That’s the best amateur way to get your hands dirty on making a website that really works.

Not everyone can afford to get a professional web designer/developer to put their sites on the net. And if you’re thinking of offering some service or product from the home or have a fledgling small business starting out an e-commerce site, chances are you’d either be making your own website or getting a college student do one for you.

That’s just fine; there are many software tools that let amateurs generate websites and there are templates online that you can download for free. Just make sure your site gets noticed and once noticed, that you won’t turn away visitors. SEO methods will do the work to get your site noticed. But you could lose your visitors if your web design is not good enough.

That means putting only what matters and what catches the attention on the first page. Use relevant images and graphics to spice up your page, but sparingly so that it loads fast. Nobody wants to wait for your site to load. And nobody wants to scroll through a long page to get to what they want.

So don’t put long articles there, just the title and maybe the first paragraph and the rest in the page devoted to the article with links to the other sections. First impression lasts. That goes for your homepages as well.

A new directory has been added by Google News for customized sections that enable visitors create their own personal news sections. It’s something like what you could do on CNN news.
Google’s earlier method requires you to make a search and then click on its “create custom section” at the bottom of the search results page. With the new feature, you can click on “Add a Section” and this opens a new page where you can add pre-programmed news.

Once the module is done, you have the options to create a custom section title that will appear on Google’s News Homepage. You then have a choice of edition option for UK, US or Asian, source location which optionally allows you to restrict the news to certain locations.

Of interest is the Bing search engine which is seamlessly integrated in all the key areas like travel, sports, people, as well as highlighting current events and community news grouped according to ZIP codes. On top of that, the MSN homepage allows you to access social networking sites like Facebook, Windows Live and Twitter right from the MSN homepage. Rolling out first in the US, MSN is encouraging surfers to visit the new homepage and give their feedback.
